Pat Robertson, a proponent of retributive capitalist Christianity, who recently issued (and then retracted) his "fatwa" against Hugo Chavez, is taking aim now at the city of Dover, Pennsylvania, whose citizens voted out all their school board members willing to take up the baton from the Kansas school board and introduce Intelligent Design in Dover schools. Robertson has not quite threatened mass assassination in Dover. But he did say the following:
"If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just voted God out of your city."
It is interesting that Robertson's god happens to hate the very same people that Robertson does. It almost sounds like he is projecting his feelings onto his anthropomorphic deity. The idea of a vengeful deity who sits outside of creation, periodically damning people as their lives unfold according to god's own plan, strikes me as fairly petty.

How about "a vengeful deity who sits outside of creation, periodically damning" or at least seriously punishing hateful, greedy folks, such as Pat Robertson, who, of their own free wills, are refusing to live "according to (His) ... plan"? ("Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me.") A comforting thought you must admit. (Cf. the parable of Lazarus and the rich man.)
