Whatever you are - white, black, Jewish, Indian, woman or a stamp collector, George Allen has an insult for you. He also has a weasely explanation for his loose lips. Play the game and see how the George Allen Insult Generator treats you.
(I checked it out twice - there are more than one insult for most categories. They are not all terribly funny but I wonder what the current media focus on his stupidity means for his chances of winning re-election.)
Update: Now see who else is feeling insulted by George Allen!
I mean, the guy had a noose in his office, once. A noose! How do you explain that away?! It's not just that he's a racist...the problem is that he prided himself on being racist. He openly flaunted it in an attempt appeal to his blatantly stupid, racist base. When he made the "macacca" comment, he said something else like, "Welcome to the REAL Virginia." Which obviously meant the WHITE Virginia. The guy is awful.
And to think, he was going to be one of the candidates for president in 08'. Yikes.

A 2008 presidential run is definitely out for Allen - the GOP is not going to stand behind someone with so much racist baggage. I am more curious about the VA senate race. People have a strange way of behaving in the privacy of the voting booth. There may be enough voters who either think that Allen did nothing wrong or that he is being unfairly hounded by the media. They might vote for him out of a sense of "good old boy" solidarity. So he might still win. But nationally, I don't think he has a chance.
BTW, I heard him the other day explain the noose as a part of a "western themed" decor. What a pathetic jerk!

I'm not sure about the voters who think that he did nothing wrong. It seems to me that his 'Jewish heritage' could alienate at least some of those types, which may be why he was so desperate to show that he was your average non-Joe ( bad pun, I know !).

You are right. The Confederate types may now desert him for his Jewish ancestry. Their charges of Allen insulting the Confederate flag might be a cover for anti-Semitism.
Jim Webb is not exactly the best candidate but he may now indeed pull it off.

"BTW, I heard him the other day explain the noose as a part of a "western themed" decor."
Wow, I hadn't heard that. The explanation must have been very reassuring for all of his African American consituents. Confederate flag...noose; but it's all "western"! Whew, what a relief.
I'm trying very hard to not refer to his base as "crackers". That's part of my new Accidental Blogger resolution, to refrain from the sorts of crass statements I thrived on while writing Cerulean Blue. Here? I'm a total gentleman. Sort of. Er.

Thank you Matt, for your gentlemanly resolution. We appreciate that at Accidental Blogger. (But I always knew you are a thorough gentleman.)
Something else that has bothered me about the George Allen case is the realization that all voter constituencies are not created equal.
If Allen's racism is so pervasive, surely African Americans and others were long aware of it. Yet we never heard anything until he stepped into the "macaca" and insulted a member of a small but educationally and economically powerful minority group - the Asian Americans. (For example, as soon as "macaca" happened, I myself sent a nice check to Jim Webb's campaign.) Could it be that and the presence of You Tube and blogs that made a huge difference this time around? Would the MSM have let the story slide otherwise? I am not sure. But it is still disconcerting to note that Allen had probably been insulting other minorities for a long time to win the support of his rural, conservative base in Virginia and that fact was never reported. He was climbing steadily up the political ladder.

So this is going to be tangentially off-topic (tangentially on-topic?):
1. Speaking of presidential candidates in 2008, I'd almost rather it be someone like George Allen, who would be bound to lose. I keep picturing it as John McCain, which is bad enough because I probably hate him more than any other politician, but then on top of it he'd probably win.
2. M: Nice job with the kinda-sorta gentlemanlyness! And speaking of bloggers like that guy who ran Cerulean Blue using crass language from time to time, does anyone know what happened to dadahead? I remember him announcing that he'd be away from the blog for a few days, and then boom, it was dead forever--I hope he's okay and just got sick of blogging.

I very much miss Dadahead, that was my favorite blog until I learned of AB. No idea where he went. I wonder if he quit or if he just changed personas, started a different blog. Grr, it's frustrating, he was great.

My favorite blog was Fafblog! (also apparently dead), but Dadahead was definitely right at the top of my list. Good thing we've still got AB!
